Abstract

Glucosamine has been widely used to treat osteoarthritis (OA). In industrial scale, glucosamine commonly provides from chitin or chitosan of shrimps and crustaceans, however, the silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) pupae shell is predicted as an alternative source of glucosamine. This study aimed to analyze the optimal concentration of HCl in the production of the silkworm pupa shell glucosamine based on its characteristics.
