Flood Frequency Analysis for Jiya Dhol River of Brahmaputra Valley
Keywords:
Flood frequency, Peak Discharge, Return Period.Abstract
Flood frequency analysis is an important mathematical modelling technique in determining the return period of the probability of witnessing a particular discharge in a river, especially a peak discharge. Floods as periodic events in a river basin are associated with high discharge. In flood frequency analysis the annual peak discharge in a river is fitted in different probability distributions. Three important statistical methods, most commonly used in flood frequency analysis, are - Gumbel
