A review on machine condition monitoring and fault diagnostics using wavelet transform

This paper presents a review on application of wavelet transform for condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of mechanical equipment. The discrete wavelet transform performs a multilevel signal decomposition to extract fault features from the vibration signal. A review on all the literature of condition monitoring using wavelet transform is certainly not possible. The purpose of this review paper is to present a summary about the application of wavelet transform for condition monitoring of mechanical equipment, and also attempt has been made to summaries the deferent maintenance strategies and general condition monitoring categories. The recent trends in research of time frequency analysis of signal and fault feature extraction have also been reviewed.
