Abstract

Rationale/ Background
The understanding of the implications of the contrastive analysis of Korean and English languages will help individuals in the academe and various fields of undertaking especially Koreans learning English to distinguish sounds and grammar patterns or structures. Determining the contrasting features between Korean and English serves as a factor to uplift the level of teaching English in Korea since the clear points on how to establish strategies and process of learning are observed more effectively.
This study involved only the contrastive analysis of Korean and English languages encompassing phonological and selected grammatical features, only major grammatical areas such as sentence structure, noun, pronouns, verbs, adjectives and prepositions.
